The KORU Project CIC has formed a wonderful partnership with Longmead Community Farm that is growing and developing.
For the past 14 years The Koru Project has worked in schools, children centres, beaches, parks, woodlands, fields, village halls, theatres, museums & art galleries. These will all continue but now we also have not only a specific designated space we hire the KORU ART BARN and in their beautiful farm house.
We are being embraced by the beauty of the ethos at the community farm developing relationships and building community. That along with a landscape that lends itself to the healing work of KORU.
The KORU Project CIC was drawn towards the heart beat of Longmead Community Farm their values seeking to work alongside families; befriending, helping and supporting.
They hope to embody the Christian values that led to its emergence, that of trying to love others as God loves us. They serve our community by offering a place that aids well-being by viewing it holistically physical, emotional and spiritual.
At the heart of this is the highest regard for healthy relationships that give space for each to realise their value and encourage others similarly.
They journey with families in difficulty, who come and visit and join in the rhythm of life on the smallholding, sharing a love of nature and the outdoors and a quieter simpler way of living. They are a community made up of people form a variety of walks of life volunteering their time either full time or part-time.
For a variety of reasons, many families have difficulties coping with the demands of life in a complex modern society. Some of these reasons include poor education and a lack of social or practical life skills.
We are convinced that by providing families with an opportunity to work together in a structured agricultural environment they will discover new interests and values together with a self-confidence and relationships that have perhaps been missing in their lives.
We are excited about how the Longmead Community Farm and The KORU Project CIC will organically grow, deepening our partnership, creating more collaborative work so that together we can bring healing and hope to many more children, young people and families.
Longmead Farm Therapeutic Centre can be found midway between Dorchester & Blandford on the A354. It has become the natural home for the Koru Project’s therapeutic work over the last year.
